Your Sunday soundcheck
- Press Start soundcheck. The band plays 20 bars of “You Are Good” at normal level.
- Turn each channel's gain until its peaks sit in the green zone (−18 to −6 dB). Use Solo to hear one channel alone.
- Then the Big Chorus hits: the lead singer and choir get much louder. No touching the gain now. Did you leave enough headroom?
Every run sets each mic at a different level, so you can't just copy last time's settings. Use headphones for the best experience.
Meter zones
−18 to −6 dB Healthy. Aim here in soundcheck. −6 to 0 dB Hot. Little headroom left. Above 0 dB Clipping. Distortion you can't undo. Below −18 dB Too low. Noisy and weak.
Ready
Stage setup: each channel can come in directly to the console (Type 1) or through the stage box (Type 2); gain works the same way in both. The band is a real multitrack recording (“You Are Good”), so every channel behaves like a live input on Sunday.
